Windows on NES !!

Have you ever wanted to run Microsoft Windows on NES? Well of course not!
However, the bootleggers could not hear you out on that and did it anyway.

The following versions of Windows exist for NES:

The reason for these fake operating systems existence is probably to provide keyboard famiclones with fake operating systems. Some famiclones (fake illegal bootlegged hardware clones of the NES) pretended to be computers. These would feature keyboard, mouse and controller. Some would even feature a floppy disk drive. The software would usually be stored on ROM cartridge.

So why don't we take a look at them:

Starting with Chinese Windows 2000:

A picture of the desktop

Start menu tells you that this is supposed to be 2000

Both of them feature a command prompt. It is also here that the famiclone keyboard come in handy.

The DOS prompt is fully functional

Fuck !!

Interestingly this card game looks like a Windows 3.1 application. Even though this is supposed to be Windows 2000.

Both original and bootleg feature a working calculator. (Works with keyboard)

The bootleg features BASIC

Windows 98:

Desktop

Features Photoshop that doesn't open

The original has the best version of MS Paint as the bootleg variant doesn't even work.

The bootleg MS-DOS prompt doesn't even work :(

They couldn't even program a FUCKING CALCULATOR !! Well.. to be fair the original gets 9+10 wrong.

Surprisingly the Nintendo version is better at displaying web pages. Who would have thought!

Educational Computer 2000

Comparison between Educational Computer 2000s desktop and the one of Windows 2000

It features system properties (Some weird shit happened to the Win 2000 screenshot)

It has Word and IT'S WORKING !!

This one also has a command prompt

The DOS prompt actually works! I even launched the application below from the DOS prompt

It features various 8-bit renditions of old songs. (This is the application i started from the DOS prompt)

A help program that will tell you the name of the PC component you click on

This did not want to run
